Congress is proposing making drastic cuts to Medicaid. 1.9 million NJ residents rely on Medicaid for their healthcare. These include people with disabilities, seniors, and children. You can prevent these cuts by calling or emailing the President and your members of Congress now.
Sharing your personal story about why this matters to you is the most powerful tool we have to stop these proposed cuts.
It only takes 2 minutes.
The community disability, mental health, and substance-use disorders that are so vital to our community are only made possible by Medicaid. Without continuous investment, we will continue to fall farther and farther behind. A recent study showed that 60% of intellectual and developmental disability providers may have to close certain programs because they cannot hire enough staff due to low payment for their services.
This bill would make decision-makers have to consider increasing payment rates in line with inflation each year. This would be a huge step to ensuring you get the care you deserve!
We have a critical shortage of social workers, counselors, psychologists, and more. So why does it take so long for the government to license them? It can take many months for qualified mental health clinicians to get the approval they need to provide the care you need.
This bill, A2805/S1761 would make each state licensing board in NJ have to study how long it takes to approve qualified applicants and take steps to remedy any long wait times.
Transportation in New Jersey remains inaccessible for too many. Whether it is basic things like not enough handicapped parking spots, no elevators, unclear signage, and so much more, it is not public transportation unless ALL people can use it.
A pair of bills in New Jersey aims to make transportation agencies research and then implement accessible designs for autism, physical, and developmental disabilities when planning transit infrastructure.
Important mental health services such as partial care and intensive outpatient are in danger of disappearing as more and more programs close their doors. This is due to low reimbursement rates from the government to providers. Without a rise in these rates to match the cost of care, many people living with addiction, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and more risk losing their treatment.
Please send a short message about why people living with mental health and addiction deserve to be able to get the treatment they need in the community where they live.
