Employment Services Save the Date! Raritan Valley Workshop Holds 39th Annual Dinner Dance on October 29th On October 29th, RVW will hold its 39th Annual Dinner Dance honoring Easter Seals job training and employment services help people with disabilities learn skills to successfully enter the workforce or to return to work after an illness or injury. Services offered include pre-vocational evaluation, work adjustment training, school-to-work transition, supported employment, extended employment, and job placement services via its Employment Services locations, such as the Raritan Valley Workshop (RVW).

When Mike suffered traumatic brain injury in an automobile accident in 1995, his life changed drastically in the blink of an eye. Faced with short-term memory loss, physical limitations, and the need to relearn things he’d previously taken for granted, Mike was referred to Easter Seals Employment Services. Easter Seals New Jersey’s three New Jersey-based sheltered workshops employ individuals with disabilities, and train participants for jobs within their community. Our three community rehabilitation programs are located in Northern, Central and Southern New Jersey. During its 2006 fiscal year, Easter Seals provided sheltered, supported and competitive employment to 1,882 individuals with disabilities and special needs within local businesses and industries throughout New Jersey. Because experience has taught us that meaningful employment is one of the best ways to boost an individual’s self-esteem and sense that they play a valuable role within their community, Easter Seals’ strives to help pave the road to independence through employment. 3. All participants below the age of 18 must possess valid working papers prior to participating in organizational or community employment. 4. Participants must be able to manage their own personal needs, including: hygiene, toileting, feeding and medication while attending Employment Services programs. A participant may utilize a personal assistant to satisfy this requirement 5. All participants must complete a W-4 Form and/or an I-9 Form including all supporting documentation before participation. Easter Seals New Jersey’s Employment Services consumers, customers, donors and employers. This year’s continuous commitment award will be presented to Scott Landis, a third-generation supporter of Easter Seals’ Employment Services.
Since 1967, RVW has supported individuals on their road to independence by promoting employment resources and opportunities for adults with disabilities. RVW consumers to develop work skills, independently earn an income, and take an important role in society by participating in the provision of necessary every-day items.
